PRESS RELEASE FROM THE LATIN MASS SOCIETY

1st December, 2008

The Extraordinary Form returns to Cambridge on a Sunday morning

A congregation of 62 filled St Laurence’s Church, Cambridge, on the first Sunday of Advent, and for the first Mass in the Extraordinary Form.

It was the perfect start to the new liturgical year. Father Christopher Back said Mass, delivering a homily on Christian generosity and death, and Justin Goddard served.

With smiles all around, coffee and tea were served afterwards in the Parish Hall where expressions of gratitude and warm welcomes were exchanged between the regular parishioners and LMS members.

On the Friday before, a Requiem Mass had also taken place in a side chapel at Our Lady and the English Martyrs in Cambridge.

Assistant representative for East Anglia, Lech Handzel-Bonavia said ‘We are delighted to have St Laurence’s as our new home. We are all so grateful to the Holy Father, whose Motu Proprio has made today possible.’
