Wanted: a confessional for St William of York's, Reading

13/02/2009

Dear and Rev Father,

Greetings in the Lord.

The parish priest at St James-St William of York's in Reading (Berkshire, England) Fr Dominic Golding has kindly allowed me to look for a confessional for St William's. Up to now Fr Leworthy and I have been hearing confessions in a "glass room" at the rear of the church. It offers a visibility which certainly meets "safeguarding policies"' requirements, but on the other hand it prevents any sort of anonymity. Our penitents and us would be glad if a real confessional could be installed.

Would you happen to know of a redundant confessional either in your parish or at a nearby convent or chapel?

I am in advance most grateful for any suggestion you may email me on that matter. If it cannot be donated, we could consider buying it provided the price be proportionate (plus transportation).

Please be assured of my prayer for you and for your parish or ministry.

Respectfully in St Peter,

Fr Armand de Malleray, FSSP
